Payments guide

Payouts & Stripe

Sponti uses Stripe to handle all payments and payouts. This guide covers how to set up your payout account, what each status means, and how to manage your connection.

Overview

How Sponti uses Stripe

Stripe is Sponti's payment processor. When a customer books a deal, Stripe handles the charge. When the booking is complete, Stripe transfers the earnings to your bank account according to its payout schedule.

Sponti uses Stripe Connect — a model where each business has its own Stripe sub-account. This means:

  • Sponti never holds your money — it passes through Stripe directly to you.
  • Sponti does not store bank account numbers, card numbers, or sensitive financial data.
  • Refunds and disputes are handled through Stripe's infrastructure.
  • You can open the Stripe Dashboard directly from My Business to see full transaction history.

ℹ️ Note

Your Stripe account is tied to a specific Business on Sponti. If you run multiple businesses, each has its own payout account and Stripe connection.

Getting started

Creating your payout account

You set up the payout account from the Account section inside My Business. Account creation is the third step of the onboarding flow, after creating a Business and adding a Venue.

During account creation, you provide:

FieldNotes
Business nameAs officially registered. Used on receipts and in Stripe.
CountryDetermines your Stripe region and compliance requirements.
Business emailUsed for Stripe communication and customer receipts.

⚠️ Important

Account creation inside Sponti is only the first step. After that, you are redirected to Stripe to complete identity verification and add your bank details. Until Stripe verification is complete, the account status stays pending and payouts remain paused.

Status reference

Account statuses

Your payout account has one of five statuses. Only connected allows deals to be published.

missingNo payout account exists for this business yet. No deals can be published.
setupAccount created but Stripe onboarding has not started yet.
pendingStripe onboarding started but identity verification is not yet complete.
connectedStripe is fully verified. Payouts are enabled. Deals can be published.
rejectedStripe onboarding encountered an issue. Return to Stripe and fix the flagged details.

Stripe setup

Completing Stripe onboarding

After account creation, you are redirected to Stripe to complete onboarding. Stripe will ask for:

  • Legal business details
  • Representative identity (where required by your country)
  • Bank account or debit card for receiving payouts

ℹ️ Note

You can return to Stripe onboarding at any time from the Account section inside My Business. Tap "Continue on Stripe" to resume where you left off.

Once Stripe finishes verification, your account status updates to connected and you can immediately publish deals.

Day to day

Managing your Stripe account

Once connected, you can open the Stripe Dashboard directly from My Business → Account → "Open Stripe Dashboard." From there:

  • View your full transaction and payout history.
  • Update your bank account details.
  • Process refunds or respond to disputes.
  • Review Stripe's own compliance and verification requirements.

💡 Tip

Payout timing depends on Stripe's schedule, not Sponti. Most Stripe accounts receive payouts within 2–7 business days of a successful charge, depending on your country and Stripe account type.

Permissions

Who can manage the account

The Account section in My Business is restricted. Only Admin and Co-admin roles can view and manage payout settings. Managers and Members do not have access to this section.

ℹ️ Note

If you're a Manager and need to update payout details, contact your business Admin or Co-admin. Sponti enforces this restriction server-side — it cannot be bypassed in the app.
